What the Build Phase Actually Is
Think of your season in three broad phases. The off-season is where you build raw strength, address weaknesses, and let accumulated fatigue from racing drain out. The race block, typically the final four to six weeks before an event, is where everything sharpens: intensity climbs, volume drops, and specificity peaks. The build phase sits between those two periods, usually eight to twelve weeks out from your target race.
