The June 6-7, 2026 weekend is one of the busiest of early summer in North America for runners. 60+ ultramarathons are scheduled per UltraRunning Magazine's calendar, joined by several regional marathons and — for hybrid athletes — Day 2 of HYROX New York.
Races to follow this weekend
- Old Dominion 100 (Woodstock, VA) — Started June 6 at 4 AM, 100 miles through Shenandoah, 28-hour cutoff
- 60+ ultramarathons across North America — Idaho, Ohio, Virginia, Massachusetts, Quebec
- Utah Valley Marathon (Utah) — Point-to-point through the Rocky Mountain foothills
- Bangor Marathon Festival (Maine) — Marathon + half
- Bear Lake Trifecta (Cokeville, WY) — 3-day format
The Old Dominion 100: the ultra centerpiece
The Old Dominion 100 is the standout ultra this weekend. Founded in 1979, it's one of America's oldest 100-mile races — 250 runners, 100 miles of Appalachian horse trail, 15,000+ ft of elevation. First finishers are expected Saturday evening. Most finishers will arrive between midnight and Sunday 8 AM.
For live tracking: results are available on olddominionrun.com and UltraRunning Magazine.
This weekend's US marathons
- Utah Valley Marathon (Provo/Salem, UT): 26.2 miles point-to-point through the Utah mountains, net downhill of 1,200 ft — fast for PR seekers
- Bangor Marathon Festival (Bangor, ME): city marathon with half marathon option, Maine community atmosphere
- Bear Lake Trifecta (Cokeville, WY): 3-day format (marathon Friday, half Saturday, 10K Sunday)
60+ ultras: the depth of the June calendar
Beyond the Old Dominion, 60+ ultras are happening across North America this weekend — formats ranging from 50K to 100 miles, on mountain, desert, and forest terrain. The density of the June ultra calendar reflects the sport's massive growth since 2020: 5 years ago, the same weekend had fewer than 30 races.
